The X-E2 excels in crappy light and excels for photos of people, but its colors don't look as snappy in good light for photos of places and things.

Choosing your aperture, shutter speed, ISO setting, and manually focusing for every shot really engages you in the process. There is another issue, one that has nothing to do with EVFs in general, but with Fujifilm’s specific settings for the viewfinder. The Quick Menu is a nice way to quickly make changes to the camera settings like ISO and White Balance, however, I really wish Fuji allowed customizing this screen. First, the Fn2 button that I mentioned above can be programmed to perform many different menu functions.

It drives me nuts shooting a DSLR or LEICA when I can't see my image pop up instantly in the finder after I've shot it — as I do with my X-E2.Keeping your shooting habits simple and focused like this will really help improve your photography. I still wasn’t getting it so they mentioned that the random arrangement of those filters within each set of 36 receptors means the sensor wasn’t in need of an anti-aliasing filter (yawn) and less moire. Reproduction in whole or part in any form or medium without specific written permission is prohibited.

The X-E2 also has a built-in eye sensor so that you only have to hold the camera up to eye-level to switch between the rear LCD and the electronic viewfinder (or you can press the View Mode button). from what you wrote, I would be inclined to think you did not really understand my thoughts and the issues I am having. Yes, there are plenty of plastic consumer Micro 4/3 cameras with LCD finders, but they are not professional grade. There's not a lot to say about image quality other than it is superb, detailed, has excellent color and dynamic range through the entire ISO range in raw (200-6400). Nikon and Canon's nature and landscape shots offer wild colors that still look natural, while pushing the Fujis and LEICAs start to look artificial.

As is the case with most modern digital cameras these days, Image quality is quite good with the X-E2. Noise control looks much better than the M9 can produce at the same ISO value, not that I care personally, but worth a mention here in the review. The Fuji X-T1 is pretty much the same camera, but a little bigger with a flippy screen — but without the built-in flash or threaded cable release socket of this X-E2. Install the FUJIFILM Camera App and you can transfer your pictures immediately to a smartphone or tablet PC and then edit and share them as you wish, transfer stills and video onto the camera, and embed GPS information in your shots from your smartphone. A competent photographer learns to see a near correct exposure from the scene in front of him and sets the controls accordingly, whether that is by utilising the fully manual controls or by using aperture priority with added exposure compensation or by other means ie the laborious use of the histogram – take the shot, check the image on the camera back, check the histogram, dial in the compensation go to retake the shot and OH, the decisive moment has gone – dow!

In my case, I let the camera cool down before taking it out and gradually warmed it up later to avoid condensation build-up.The exposure comp on the X-E2 does allow you to extend to +/-3EV giving you an extra stop over the +/-2EV of the X-E1. Unless shooting indoors in mixed artificial light (or, strangely enough, into the light and exposing for shadows), I am quite good at estimating roughly correct exposure so long as I always see the scene as it is and concentrate on the areas that I want to be exposed correctly. We won't say any more at this point other than to recommend that you take a look at our Sample Images for yourself. In fact, as you can see from some of the sample images, I have used the X-E2 when the temperatures were way below freezing (10 °F) and the camera worked without any problems during the shoot and afterward. From that standpoint, I really like the X-E1 / X-E2, because you can adjust the diopter to your needs and change it to a different setting if you are wearing glasses or hand the camera to someone else.
