DJ and producer Ian Levine created a huge anthem with Evelyn Thomas’ ‘High Energy’ and popularised hot U. Each edition will feature an essential collection of tracks representing key genres from the incredible diversity that were all part of 1980s Dance music.

O.S Band and Nu Shooz are also featured alongside freestyle Hip-Hop and Pop infused beats from Whistle and Lisa Lisa And Cult Jam With Full Force. The influence of Disco was pervasive across many genres during the 1980s – but Disco itself was far from over. Sylvester… and we’ve also included some huge club tracks from Barbara Pennington and Sheryl Lee Ralph, along with the catchiest Dance-Pop from London Boys and Laura Branigan.Following the height of its’ popularity in the late 1970s, Disco in the early 1980s retained the irresistible melodies and beat but became primarily synth driven. On this collection Now are celebrating ‘Electro’ – a sub-genre of Electronic Dance music that combined elements of Disco, Funk and Hip-Hop and featuring a heavy synth backing, and the commercial Electro-Pop hits it produced. These are vinyl-only compilations which will represent key genres from the dance scene of the 1980s. S. club tracks through his Record Shack label, and Jimmy Somerville enjoyed massive chart success as part of Bronski Beat, who with Marc Almond covered ‘I Feel Love’, the 1977 Donna Summer classic, often cited as the influence and basis for ‘Hi-NRG’, and as the lead singer of The Communards, who had the best-selling single in 1986 with their energised cover of the Disco standard ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’.

The first volume (HI-NRG and Pop) was issued earlier this month, while this new selection features 29 tracks pressed on purple and pink vinyl, including songs from Carly Simon, Irene Cara, Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Chaka Khan, Nu Shooz, The SOS Band, Malcolm McLaren and many more. By the late 80s, club culture informed and popularised a huge number of new styles of dance music including House, Eurodance, Jack-Swing, Techno, and an evolution in Soul… the final disc highlights some of the best from the end of the decade. O.S Band with ‘Just Be Good To Me’ and also included here are hugely influential Electro-Pop gems from Freeez, Rockers Revenge feat.
