The character he creates ("Pink") is a character (and at times caricature) and while you get a deep sense that The Wall is semi-autobiographical, it feels largely like a crafted rock opera instead of a vehicle for a rich rock star to pout. Despite being an official release, Engrish still pervades the packaging: the box says "Most Shocking is the Public to Enjoy Quality Cars", and humorously, "Comfortably Numb" is rendered as "Come Fartably Numb" on the back. This is a truly classic recording with superb clarity that brings out every nuance of the recording. That’s not to say it’s the best cut out there - obviously - but it is to say these 2016 remasters are really phenomenal, especially if you just want great sounding pressings of these records. The Wall fortunately had a strong enough tether to keep his melancholy from dominating the entire album.
